Entry#4. Secrets About Most of Our Food!!

After watching Food, Inc. I was completely shocked. I felt abused in so many ways! It's very sad how food companies prefer money over peoples health and lives. It is even sadder how the government is not doing much to protect people. Throughout my entire life it never crossed my mind to reflect on where my food comes from. I knew about junk food and its affects on peoples bodies; Yet, I did not know supermarkets are also harmful. Food companies have hidden their secrets extremely well. For instance, when you enter a supermarket every food looks clean and well taken care of. There is no way anyone could think of danger. Now, thanks to Food, Inc. I finally know where the meat I buy comes from.

I am grateful for men and women like Robert Kenner, producer of Food, Inc., that are not afraid to expose the secrets. For this unhealthy way of producing food has killed many people and created new types of bacteria. Even in the movie there was a woman that shared about her two-year-old son's death. I am not trying to say that there will never be food poisoning and germs; I am saying that our food can be much safer than it is right now.
We must create a better environment and eating habit for the future generation. I cannot imagine the world if we continue to feed garbage to our bodies . We must start fighting back by buying and requesting healthier food. Even though, it is more expensive it is worth it. Food should not be all about fat, salt, and sugar. Moreover, food should not be about faster, bigger, and cheaper. What we choose to eat does affect our future. Even though, companies use commercial and other utensils to persuade people we must be smarter by eating wisely.

  1. I am so glad you posted this! So many people don't know about the reality of the food we eat. These farms that contaminate our food also put the animals in horrible living conditions. This all needs to stop, and informing people about it is a great way to start!

  2. I really enjoyed reading your post and also am happy we got to watch this video in class! I know that a lot of people just ignore the facts about our food and just choose to live ignorantly but I am glad to know that at least Prof. Chris' class knows about how bad the food factories are.
