Entry#6. Bye Bye Blogs:)

I truly enjoyed the blogging experience. It was fun sharing my personal opinions and reading my classmates life experiences. By reading my classmates blogs I felt like I knew them more personally. I began to differentiate their personalities and characteristics through their tone and voice. Initially I did not take the blogging experience seriously, I simply completed it for the points. However, it eventually became more interesting, when Professor Nielson told me to speak to my audience and add self-generated entries. It became easier to share my opinions. Writing blogs taught me how to creatively share my opinions. For example, I learned to connect videos and pictures to my writing topic. I think the blog helped everyone to connect with each other and practice how to communicate with a specific audience.I have no advice for Chris because I think the blogging assignment is already very good and organized.

Eating Healthier

Even though majority of people prefer to eat at restaurants and fast food store, I like homemade meals better. There are many things that make homemade food special; One of my favorite is trust. I do not have to worry about what is in my food, or if it was surrounded by rats or pests. When I go to restaurants I have no idea how cooked the food was, or where it came from. However, when I am home I am in control.

There are times my family and I go to Wendy's, Subway, Red Lobster, and Applebee's but I try to not make it a usual event. Few years ago I worked at McDonald and I saw many things that I did not like. For example, McDonald kept the same oil for a very long time period . Also, there were times when sick employers would work and handle food. No one can determine what happens in the kitchen of restaurants, this is why everyone must be careful.

Entry#5. PINK SLIME:(

This couple of weeks I have learned many horrible things about food. Yet, pink slime is one of the most disgusting fact I have learned so far. If one of my friends would have told me what I learned today, I probably would have not believed him or her. The reason why I am actually shocked is that the government approves this horrible act. How could they agree to feeding children with burgers that were sanitized with ammonia? I believe the food production has gone too far. I know the ammonia is used to kill the bacteria, but I also know that ammonia is a dangerous chemical and there are chances of the bacteria not dying completely. This method of meat production does not seem right, it seems uncivilized.
Even though, pink slime makes ground beef to cost cheaper, it is disgusting. I don't think that many people would be buying USDA ground beef if they knew where it came from. Will the USDA stop when people begin to die? Pink slime must be put to an end before something terrible happens.

This Thursday was Valentines Day! Valentine is an awesome holiday. People show their appreciation and inner feelings to people. Even though, that should be done everyday, it is cool that there is a special day for affection. Usually people buy flowers, teddy bears, and CHOCOLATE for their loved ones. While, some go on dinners or dates with family and friends.

Has anyone ever wondered where the holiday originated from? There are many legends about Valentine Day such as baby cupid. The main two legends are about St. Valentine and bishop Valentine. Saint Valentine lived during AD 300. He was arrested for preaching about God after the emperor ordered that everyone should worship idols. After he was put to jail legend says he cured the jailer's daughter from blindness and fell in love with her. The night before he was beheaded he wrote a letter to her signing it, "From your Valentine." He was beheaded on February 14. While bishop Valentine was imprisoned for secretly marrying couples, which was contrary to the Roman emperor law.

Eventually, February 14 turned into a love day and became a traditional holiday.

Entry#4. Secrets About Most of Our Food!!

After watching Food, Inc. I was completely shocked. I felt abused in so many ways! It's very sad how food companies prefer money over peoples health and lives. It is even sadder how the government is not doing much to protect people. Throughout my entire life it never crossed my mind to reflect on where my food comes from. I knew about junk food and its affects on peoples bodies; Yet, I did not know supermarkets are also harmful. Food companies have hidden their secrets extremely well. For instance, when you enter a supermarket every food looks clean and well taken care of. There is no way anyone could think of danger. Now, thanks to Food, Inc. I finally know where the meat I buy comes from.

I am grateful for men and women like Robert Kenner, producer of Food, Inc., that are not afraid to expose the secrets. For this unhealthy way of producing food has killed many people and created new types of bacteria. Even in the movie there was a woman that shared about her two-year-old son's death. I am not trying to say that there will never be food poisoning and germs; I am saying that our food can be much safer than it is right now.
We must create a better environment and eating habit for the future generation. I cannot imagine the world if we continue to feed garbage to our bodies . We must start fighting back by buying and requesting healthier food. Even though, it is more expensive it is worth it. Food should not be all about fat, salt, and sugar. Moreover, food should not be about faster, bigger, and cheaper. What we choose to eat does affect our future. Even though, companies use commercial and other utensils to persuade people we must be smarter by eating wisely.

Les Miserables:)

I love hanging out with my family and friends whenever I am off from work. Two moths ago my family and I decided to go to watch a movie titled Les Miserables. The movie was amazing! At first, I wasn't sure if I was going to like it because they were singing throughout. However, the story was inspirational and moving.

Out of all the characters I like Jean Valjean the most. In the movie this man completely turned his life around. It was touching to see a selfish thief become a loving father. This man reflected love wherever he went. There was a scene in the movie where he decided not to shoot his archest enemy. Not only was this man caring, he was also strong and brave. Even though I only wrote about Jean Valjean, there were many other amazing characters. Such as, Eponine a young lady that died for her love.

Throughout the movie there were powerful life lessons for all ages. I was so glad my family convinced me to watch it because it is now one of my favorite movies. I cried, laughed, and learned.  I think everyone should watch it because it is an inspiring movie.

I love my job!

I have chosen to help hurt people. I work in the health care field as a certified nurse assistant. It is a very hard and demanding job. CNA's are the ones that clean diapers, shower patients, and clothe them. We work  hard and receive low payments, but the feeling of knowing your saving lives makes it worth it.

I take my job very seriously because I am dealing with people's lives and emotions.  I always try encourage my patients whenever I see them dawn in spirit. I love my job and I know that patients need support, care, love and prayer.

Many patients feel like their families have abandoned them. This is why I always try to be friendly and sometimes get to know them personally. It saddens me when I get close to patients and they eventually pass away. All in all I truly love my job and I am glad I get to be a helping hand.
